Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who’s the Fairest of Them All?

Prayer Meeting every wEDNESDAY at 8:00 PM

This famous phrase was made popular by the wicked queen from ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’. The queen in this fairy tale story unceasingly questions the enchanted and allseeing mirror if there is anyone fairer than her. The representation of the wicked queen in the story is a typical image of fallen man. Conceited, selfish, and lover of one’s self. How often do we gaze in the mirror, conscious of how we look? Maybe like the wicked queen.

There is a divine mirror that reflects the invisible image of the human heart. The Word of God. Anyone who reads and meditates on the Word of God will see the reflection of himself through His Word.

God speaks through His Word and anyone who listens and obeys His Word is like grooming himself by the Spirit of God. It is by His Word that we heard of His salvation through His Son Jesus Christ. It is by His Word that we are assured of His forgiveness (1 John 1:9). It is by His Word that we have been assured of His promises (2 Cor 1:20). It is by His Word that hidden secrets of our hearts are revealed.

Every time we stare at ourselves through the mirror of His Word, it is only then that we can see the reflection of a fallen heart before God. It is His desire that we grow in the full knowledge of His Son and become mature in faith, so that the likeness of His Son will reflect in our lives. God said of David, “A man after my heart, who will accomplish everything I want him to do” (Acts 13:22). What is David’s secret? The answer is in

Psalm 119:11 “I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you”.
